Our Music, Prayer, and Other Ministries

Music

Beautiful music is very much cherished at St. Gabriel's, bringing us much joy every Sunday.  If you have musical talent, please share your gifts with us.  You will find appreciative ears.

Senior Choir:  The senior choir meets every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the library from September through June.  You are encouraged to come and join this friendly and welcoming group anytime and raise your voice with us.  All are welcome.  For information contact Leslie Piper, organist.

Junior Choir:  Our vibrant new Cherub Choir and Junior Choir meet every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:00 for pre-readers (Cherub Choir) and from 4:00-5:00 for older children through 6th grade (Junior Choir). Snack is provided and you are encouraged to bring friends at any time. All children are welcome, regardless of church affiliation.  For more information contact Leslie Piper, organist.

Handbell Choir:  St. Gabriel's is blessed to have a beautiful set of handbells and the congregation looks forward to hearing the handbell choir approximately once a month.  Rehearsals are on Monday afternoons at 4:30 in the Loft School area (across the courtyard to the right of the main church).  All are invited to join; no experience necessary.  For more information, please contact Sylvia Strand.

Prayer

Prayer in its many forms has become part of the fabric of St. Gabriel's community life.  In addition to our corporate prayer during Sunday services, several additional prayer ministries are also available, whether you wish to be prayed for or have a calling to pray for others.

Healing Prayer Ministry:  This ministry is provided to all parishioners and guests during the 10:00 communion service for those who wish to have laying-on-of-hands and healing prayer for themselves or on behalf of others.  Two lay ministers are available in the niche outside the sanctuary (door next to the lectern) to pray for those who wish it as they leave the communion rail.  The Healing Prayer Ministry team provides training and support for those who are called to serve in this way.  Please contact the clergy or Barbi Sanderson for more information.

Prayer Chain:  This devoted group consists of members who are called to pray on behalf of others both within and outside the parish.  Prayer chain members pray individually on a daily basis, keeping in contact both by phone and by e-mail.  If you are interested in participating in this ministry, or if you wish to have prayer for yourself or on behalf of a loved one, please contact Annie Watson or Karen Hotte.

Other Ministries

Gardens-By-The-Sea Fundraiser:  "Gardens-by-the-Sea" is Saint Gabriel's signature fundraiser, generally held on a Friday in late June or early July.  Beautiful local gardens are opened to the public for tours and enjoyment.  In addition, there are plants and decorative garden items for sale as well as an elegant brunch at the Kittansett Club on Point Road.  Be sure to enjoy this beautiful event if you can. Help is always appreciated in making this day a success, and there are many ways that you can pitch in. Please contact Debbie Bush or Hanna Milhench for information.

Moveable Feasts:  One of our most enjoyable fellowship ministries is "Moveable Feasts".  Offered on an annual basis, parishioners may sign up and be placed in a group of 6-8 people who agree to meet at a different house each month for a simple, shared meal.  This is one of the best ways to meet and enjoy the company of others in the parish.  Contact the church office for information on upcoming "Moveable Feasts".
